Art Projects and Activities to do at Home

Here are some ideas and internet links for art projects and other activities to work on at home.

For Students

Use sidewalk chalk to create huge pictures in your driveway or on the sidewalk in front of your house.

Create sculptures using containers and packaging that would otherwise be thrown away. Check with an adult for permission, and make sure all items are clean and do not have any sharp edges.

Keep a sketchbook this summer and draw pictures whenever you get a chance. A sketchbook does not have to be expensive, you can make your own!

Sketchbook Ideas:

Draw what you see in everyday life
Take it with you on trips and draw pictures as a travel journal
Design new outfits
Start your own comic strip
Design a dream house

This website features fun online art programs such as the "Collage Machine" and "BRUSHster."

I never missed an episode of Mark Kistler's show "The Secret City" when I was in elementary school. You have to subscribe and pay for some of the pages on this website, but there are also free lessons that teach you how to draw cool 3-D characters.

Take a digital picture of your child's art and create his/her own
Artsonia page.  You may also email it to Ms. Haymes (chaymes@ccboe.com) to add to the Malcolm gallery of artwork, and it will be showcased along with his/her school artwork.
